Facilities
Altinkum has three golden beaches, over 120
restaurants, a shopping centre and a local market every Saturday in
Didim town centre. Dolphin Square is where you will find lively bars
with a great atmosphere and it’s only 10 mins walk from the
complex.
Eating out
If you're looking for traditional Turkish food, you
will find this up towards Didim town centre which is only a 5mins bus
ride away (Dolmus). There are plenty of restaurants along the main
beach most of which have great views out to sea, most restaurants will
also offer free car pick up and drop off service.
Shopping
Carrefour, Tannas and Migros are the three biggest
supermarkets in Altinkum, here you will find everything you need, they
also offer a free bus ride home if you shop with them.
Entertainment
You can't go to Turkey without trying a traditional
Turkish Bath or visiting the ancient ruins of the Apollo Temple. There
is also a seasonal Aqua Park and seasonal funfair, leaflets for these
attractions and other places to visit can be found in the apartment
Excursions
If you take the short walk down to the harbour,you
will find plenty of choice for boat trips around the neighbouring
islands and to Bodrum. This should cost you approx £10-£15
per person with food and drink included.
You don't really need a car for this holiday, but
if you decide that you do, it is possible to hire cars and scooters in
Altinkum. There are also plenty of Taxis available but most places are
within walking distance.
Tour companies operate in Altinkum with many trips
and excursions available.
The locals
You will find that the local Turkish people are
very kind and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they
will go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant time in
Altinkum.
Most local workers speak very good English and most
shops will take sterling currency. The currency in Turkey is Turkish
Lira.
